The Final Challenge: What Do You Love Most About Call of Duty?
Battlefield 3’s squad system is incredibly frustrating. I cannot stand playing that game too long because you’re limited to 4 friends in a squad and those squads screw up pretty often. That’s a problem that’s non-existent in Call of Duty.
I can game with friends much more easily in Call of Duty, regardless of which game in the series it is. The game has helped me bond with some people I otherwise never would’ve been able to really get to know. For example, playing on CoD was always the closest me and great friends of mine out of state could get to hanging out together. We can have fun, troll each other and all sorts of stuff, such as use the game as an outlet for discussion. Particularly, there are a bunch of guys in Missouri that I play CoD with, and I don’t want to know what my life would be like without them. Especially the Asian child.
It even helps keep you close to your real life friends. What if one of them is not feeling well enough to go out but can be on? What if you are too scared to go over to their house after months of being apart or things just seemed hectic over there? You can play on there. It even gives a little help in getting friends over- motivation, so to speak- to try and restore cracking friendships or reinforce unbreakable bonds. Also, it’s easy to teach to your friends. Imagine trying to get a friend of yours into a random Battlefield match. It’s not that easy to play. They would not be a happy bunny if you randomly got them on there.
In short, what I love about CoD is how it can bring people and friends together. There’s no difficulty. Everyone has it, everyone can have fun on it, and it brings people together. What I love most about Call of Duty is friendship. I don’t care how cheesy that sounds. Humans are social beings and the series is really good at allowing for it. CoD, whether in playing or liking, has helped bring me close to a variety of people. Here’s the short list of the things (people) I love about Call of Duty:
Mikey, the epic badass at all things FPS and helping out friends.
Zach “The Asian Child” of the Dynamic Duo and one of my greatest friends.
Corey “Red”, another one of my greatest friends 1000 miles away.
Sheona “She-Hulk”, one of the awesomest people I know.
Jason, awesome RL friend who I’ve kept close with partially because of CoD.
Liam, the British dude of awesomeness who inspires me to keep playing.
Jordan, the jack of all trades except video games.
Dan, a friend of mine for a decade who I keep in contact with via CoD gaming.
Dred, the guy who kills me way too much.
Casket, a new friend on Xbox Live.
Le SquishiFish, who still has yet to game with me despite accepting my friend request. YAY for CoD obsession, eh?
About 12 people from Missouri because of Mikey, Corey, and the Asian child.
At least 20 other people from other real life friends gaming with their own friends.
A hell of a lot of exposure to other players that were cool to talk to, even if only for one or two games.
All of my 29 of Tumblr followers.
Do I dare say more than this? Do I need to say more? I’ve gotten to see so many people, game with so many people, and find a reason to actually talk to people and make friends, even if it is through something like a video game. I don’t regret playing CoD mostly because of these people.
Anyway, I hope you have a good night. Peace out, take care, and no more being spammed with challenges from this page! yay for you!
-Sincerely,
Jen, That CoD Moment
